HOW YOUR GIFT HELPS GROW AN ACORN TO A MIGHTY OAK…
Acorns to Oaks operates entirely on contributions from the Garden Hills Elementary community including businesses, charitable foundations, GHES families and alumni.
Help us turn our underutilized courtyard into an engaging learning space!

Improvements planned for the courtyard include:
• Additional seating to accommodate more learning space
• Sensory paths to encourage socialization and promote problem-solving
• Sensory gardens for STEM lessons and develop responsibility
• Artwork installations that promote the school's IB principles and celebrate the school's diversity
• Beautification of the space with improved landscaping and hardscaping
With your support, we can make this vision a reality!
More programs Acorns to Oaks Foundation has supported:
- Orton-Gillingham Approach teacher training. This program is based on a multisensory approach to learning that combines auditory, kinesthetic, and visual techniques with the structure of the English language to benefit not only students with learning challenges such as dyslexia, but to promote language capabilities for all learners.
- Learning technology. Including funding technology subscriptions such as Horizons, iXL, Bookflix and NSync to provide personalized learning opportunities for students. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Acorns to Oaks was also instrumental in providing technology to support the return to in-person learning by supplying every class with 360° cameras and microphones to facilitate last years's hybrid model.
- Specialized teacher grants for teaching professionals seeking additional materials and resources that support areas of study, special projects and grade level initiatives in their classroom.
- Annual Shakespeare in Residency production. Through a partnership with the Georgia Shakespeare Festival, Garden Hills has been privileged to host a spring production of a classic tale featuring our students for the last 20 years. GHES even received the 2013 Spirit of Will Award at the Georgia Shakespeare’s Bard Bash in honor of its achievements and longevity with the program. With continuing contributions from donors like you, we have been able to offer multiple showings to fellow students, teachers, and alumni free of charge.
- Soccer In The Streets. An inclusive soccer program that goes beyond teaching soccer to instilling valuable life skills such as teamwork, individual responsibility, and social and emotional learning (SEL).
- Dual Language Immersion Program Support. Tools, professional development and instructional materials that support rigorous language and content instruction daily in English and Spanish for all grades, Pre-K through 5th.
