Acorns to Oaks is Garden Hills Elementary's 501(c)(3) parent-led non-profit foundation helping to provide supplementary resources to support students, teachers and school facilities to help our acorns grow into mighty oaks!
The Acorns to Oaks Grizzly Fund supports enrichment programs like:
- Orton-Gillingham Approach teacher training. This program is based on a multisensory approach to learning that combines auditory, kinesthetic, and visual techniques with the structure of the English language to benefit not only students with learning challenges such as dyslexia, but to promote language capabilities for all learners.
- SmartLAB STEM Modules to enhance our new SmartLAB with additional hands-on learning activities to support STEM curriculum.
- Learning technology. Including funding technology subscriptions such as Horizons, iXL, Bookflix and NSync to provide personalized learning opportunities for students.
- Specialized teacher grants for teaching professionals seeking additional materials and resources that support areas of study, special projects and grade level initiatives in their classroom..
- Dual Language Immersion Program Support. Tools, professional development and instructional materials that support rigorous language and content instruction daily in English and Spanish for all grades, Pre-K through 5th.
